Trip to Stardome

Here are some pictures from our trip to Stardome on Thursday 26th July 2023.

(Picture are in reverse order, read from the bottom back to the top).

Us in the 'star room'. We explored the night sky, saw the Matariki stars and then watched a movie called Solar System Odyssey.

Jeremiah enjoying the Earth projection.

Mr Jason talking about how the Earth spins which gives us day and night.

After this picture, Mr Jason spaced our the kids to show us how far away the planets actually are from each other. The first four were super close to the sun, Jupiter was across the room, Saturn even further, then Uranus and Neptune out the door!

We knew the answers to all his questions.

This is our milky way.

Mr Jason talking to us about the solar system.

A model showing how early Polynesians used the starts to find their way when sailing.

Future astronauts?

View from the ISS.

Boys looking at the view from the ISS.

Jency looking at what happens when a star dies.

Turning the handles rotated the Earth, made the moon orbit the Earth, and the Earth orbit the sun.

We were early so we got to explore the foyer by ourselves and touch the exhibitions.
